Medical disclaimer
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Please read this before using Trinsic Rx. It explains what an online consultation can and can't do, and when you should get help elsewhere.
Not for emergencies. If you feel unwell, call NHS 111. In an emergency – for example difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips or throat – call 999 or go to A&E.
1. What our service is
Trinsic Rx offers online consultations with UK-registered clinicians, who can prescribe treatment for a limited range of skin concerns when it is suitable and safe. Our clinicians make their own clinical decisions. General information on our website is not a diagnosis or personal medical advice.
2. The limits of an online consultation
- Our clinicians assess you from your answers and photos (and a video call if needed). They cannot examine or touch your skin, or carry out tests such as biopsies.
- Photos – even good ones – can miss details that would be seen in person. That's why we ask for three clear photos (front, left and right) in good natural light.
- Video calls have the same limits, and depend on your connection and camera.
- Our service is not suitable for every skin condition, and it does not replace your GP.
3. When to get in-person care
Please see your GP (or call NHS 111) rather than using our service if you have:
- a mole or mark that is new, changing, bleeding or itchy
- a painful, spreading or weeping area of skin, or signs of infection such as fever or pus
- a severe skin reaction, such as widespread blistering or peeling
- skin symptoms together with feeling generally unwell
Skin cancer checks: our service is not a skin cancer screening service. Our clinicians will tell you if they see something that needs checking in person, but an online assessment cannot replace a full skin check.
4. No guaranteed results
Treatments affect everyone differently. We cannot guarantee that you will be offered treatment, that it will work for you, how quickly you will see changes, or that you won't have side effects. Results depend on many things, including your skin, your health, and using your treatment as directed.
5. Accurate information keeps you safe
Your clinician relies on what you tell them. Please give full and honest answers about your health, medicines (including supplements and herbal remedies), allergies and your skin. Inaccurate or missing information could lead to treatment that isn't safe for you.
6. Using your treatment safely
- Read your treatment plan and the pharmacy information, and use your treatment only as directed.
- Follow the sun-safety advice you agreed to: use SPF 30 or higher every day, don't sunbathe or use sunbeds, and don't apply treatment to sunburnt or broken skin.
- Never share your treatment with anyone else.
- Some skin treatments must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Tell us straight away – using "Add new medical information" in your account – if you are pregnant, could be pregnant, are trying to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
- Also tell us if you start a new medicine, develop a new condition, or your health changes.
7. Side effects
Stop using your treatment and get urgent help (999 or A&E) if you have signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing or swelling of your face, lips or throat. For other side effects that worry you, stop your treatment and message your clinician in your account; if you need advice sooner, call NHS 111. You can also report side effects to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme at yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk.
8. Reviews and follow-up
You'll be asked to complete a short review, with new photos, every 3 months. Please do these – they let your clinician check your treatment is still working and still safe. Your clinician may ask for a review sooner, or advise you to see someone in person.
9. Contacting us about your care
- Questions about your treatment: message your clinician in your account. Please don't send medical details or photos by email.
- Urgent advice: NHS 111 or your GP.
- Emergencies: 999 or A&E.
10. Your choices
You can always decline a treatment, ask for a second opinion, or discuss our advice with your GP or another healthcare professional.
